Broad Brook Grange will present its 17th annual Columbus Day Weekend Apple Brunch on Sunday, October 13, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Grange hall in Guilford Center. The proceeds from the event will allow for continued renovations of the historic building and support of its community programs.
The all-you-can-eat brunch features eggs and omelets, any style, made to order. Also on the menu are apple and regular pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon and home fries, with Guilford maple syrup. Other treats include home-baked apple coffee cakes and other goodies, homemade applesauce, and bread for toasting. A selection of juices — including cider — will be available, along with coffee, teas and milk.
No reservations are necessary for the meal, which is priced at $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, and $5 for ages 2-12. Kids under two are free.
This event is the last brunch of 2013, our last one until Mother’s Day, so do join us. Broad Brook Grange is at 3940 Guilford Center Road, 4 miles west of the Guilford Country Store.
In addition to the brunch series and the county’s earliest sugar-on-snow supper each year, the organization sponsors pre-town meeting, a baking contest and bingo at the Guilford Fair, and many other activities. The building also serves as the venue for dozens of municipal and community events each year, and is the polling place for General Elections.

Yum.
These descriptions always sound so delicious. It’s actually reminding me of a german apple pancake I had a year or two ago. The “pancake” was made in a cast iron pan and poofed up to be rather enormous. It was filled with apples and covered in cinnamon and powdered sugar. It could probably have fed a small family for a few days.
Hope you get a big crowd!
