Is There Anything More Important?
By Richard Davis
While there may be many items currently on the federal legislative agenda, there is nothing more important than impeachment that results in removing Trump from office. It should be clear, to what I believe is a majority of Americans and world citizens, that the U.S. president is displaying an escalating level of mental health instability putting this country and the world at risk for catastrophic consequences. The erratic swings in the U.S. stock market often reflect the damage Trump causes by his impulsive actions.
We don’t need psychiatric labels to tell us that Trump has become intoxicated with his power. The people around him are loyalists who have also been complicit in the executive branch power grab that is nothing less than treasonous behavior, violating the U.S. Constitution as well as disrupting the balance of power throughout the world.
If we do not stop Trump and his people from moving ahead with their minute-to-minute changing agenda that is never a part of any coherent plan, the U.S. will lose its ability to sit at the table with other world powers in matters of trade, diplomacy, climate change, military aggression and a host of other issues. Some believe Pence would be no better than Trump but Pence has not displayed any signs of mental instability or erratic behavior.
When Sen. Lyndsey Graham publicly criticizes Trump it is an indication that matters are much worse than we have been led to believe. In a recent posting on The Hill it was noted, “Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday stepped up his criticism of President Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northeastern Syria, saying it could be a “complete and utter national security disaster in the making.”
“I hope President Trump is right in his belief that Turkey’s invasion of Syria is of no concern to us, abandoning the Kurds won’t come back to haunt us, ISIS won’t reemerge, and Iran will not fill the vacuum created by this decision,” Graham tweeted…”
“Graham, who is normally one of Trump’s strongest Senate supporters, also said he was concerned that “we will not have allies in the future against radical Islam, ISIS will reemerge, & Iran’s rise in Syria will become a nightmare for Israel. I fear this is a complete and utter national security disaster in the making and I hope President Trump will adjust his thinking.”
People are dying as a result of Trump’s Syria pullout and the death toll will continue to rise. Turkey’s President has been itching to invade Syria and after one phone call to Trump his major obstacle to that invasion was eliminated. No review of the situation. No consultation with military and diplomatic experts about a long term plan. No projection of what the consequences would be of such action.
It is of critical importance to know the details of the conversation between the U.S. and Turkish presidents. There is a possibility that this is another quid pro quo even worse than what occurred between the U.S. and Ukraine. Trump Towers opened in 2012 in Istanbul and Trump has been on record describing this as a conflict of interest.
One has to wonder if the death and destruction now taking place in northern Syria is the result of deals made to protect Trump’s business interests. We may never find out.
This out of control madman needs to be removed from office as soon as possible before more people die because of his actions.
