“The Teacher” caps Palestine Film Series

“The Teacher” is a plot-driven drama about a Palestinian teacher grieving the loss of his teenage son and struggling to reconcile his commitment to political resistance with his support for two students. Predating the events of Oct. 7, 2023, Through the first-person framework of a middle-aged Palestinian teacher, the film looks at hostage-taking as a deliberate tactic of resistance for a people with few options at their disposal. It also explores the psychological harm inherent in Israel’s mass imprisonment of young Palestinians. This is the final of four films in this year’s Palestine Film Series.
