This weekend intensive provides an excellent introduction to the craft, and will equip you with the fundamental techniques and tools needed to create beautiful, functional pieces. From mastering the table saw, jointer, planer, routers, and sanders, to learning the ins and outs of woodworking safety, you’ll leave with the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle more advanced projects with confidence and ease.

Learn. On Day One, we’ll cover project design and how to select and prepare materials using the most common machines in the shop. You’ll learn how to make simple crosscuts using the miter saw, and how to square rough lumber (the first step to most woodworking projects) using the jointer, planer and table saw. You’ll also learn how to do a proper glue-up.

Day Two you’ll use the planer, band saw and router table, to shape board faces and edges, with time allowed for sanding and finishing your stand with a coat of shellac.

Make. Make a beautiful, functional cookbook or iPad stand out of maple and cherry hardwoods.
