Intro to Woodworking for Women+

This 8-session introductory woodworking class is perfect for total beginners. Designed to empower and build community among diverse beginner woodworkers, this class is open to women, transgender, and non-binary people.

Learn. Through demonstrations and hands on learning, students will be guided through the proper use and safety of the jointer, planer, table saw, bandsaw, router and drill press. We will also use hand tools and hand power-tools to create joinery and surface texture on wood. Topics covered include properties of wood, woodworking materials, milling lumber four square, methods for shaping wood, common joinery, hand tools for cutting joinery, glue ups, sanding & basic finishing techniques.

Make. You’ll make a charcuterie board, a bandsaw box and joinery samples.

Get Certified. This class will cover the safe operation of the table saw, jointer, planer, routers, drill press, and bandsaw, and will help prepare you for our certification tests. Cost: $722.50 members; $850 non-members (plus a $25 materials fee)
