Friends of Music at Guilford’s Annual Community Messiah Sing is scheduled for Saturday, December 2, from 1:00 to about 3:00 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St., Brattleboro. Up to 250 or 300 residents and visitors to the region come to sing the choruses of Handel’s masterwork or just to listen to such a grand choir. Tom Baehr is conducting this season, while David Neiweem accompanies chorus and soloists at the organ. Featured vocal soloists are Elizabeth Wohl, soprano, Lesley Cotter, alto, James Anderson, tenor, and Gary Clay, baritone. Singers can bring a score, or borrow one at the door; bottled water, the only beverage allowed, is also for sale. All door donations are passed along to the Groundworks Collaborative. Over $22,000 has been collected since 2007, when the Sing was rededicated as a benefit for their food and shelter programs serving our homeless and needy neighbors. Sing participants are also encouraged to bring along nonperishable food, winter clothing, outwear and blankets. For further information, contact the Friends of Music office at (802) 254-3600 or email office@fomag.org; or find us on Facebook.
