Building on a Legacy of Justice – Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration

In the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., All Souls Church, Unitarian Universalist, and the Windham County Vermont NAACP will host a Justice Soup Supper and Community Sing on Friday, January 17, at 5:30 pm at All Souls Church in West Brattleboro.

The gathered community is invited to share a meal together, witness part of King’s last speech – “I’ve Been To the Mountaintop” and sing spirituals and justice songs together. There is no charge for theevent, but a free-will offering will be held to support the Root Social Justice Center, a Vermont-based, Black, Indigenous, and People
of Color (BIPOC) led racial justice organization centering blackness. The Root prioritizes BIPOC people and their communities by shifting resources to BIPOC for leadership, connection, healing, education and
the arts and supports BIPOC-led racial justice movement work.

All Souls UU Church is a welcoming and inclusive faith community whose mission is to create and sustain an open and caring community where we may find inspiration for our spiritual growth, opportunities for lifelong religious education, and encouragement for putting our beliefs and values into action and service. The Windham County Vermont
Branch of the NAACP is dedicated to serving the needs and promoting the social, economic, political and interpersonal power of people of color and their allies living in our county.
