The Fiddler for roots music band Low Lily is from Brattleboro. Her name is Lissa Schneckenburger, and she lives on my street. More importantly, she plays fiddle, really, really, really, really well. I had her on my radio show when I was doing the Colonel Brattle’s Music Hall, and I have seen her at play here in Brattleboro.
Now, Low Lily is raising money for their CD.
If you donate $15, you will get a copy of their CD which will have 4-7 tracks on it. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/low-lily-s-new-ep#home
Doubly cool, after they meet their goal, which will allow them to create this recording, they will donate 50% of all funds to the Drop In center. http://www.feedthethousands.org/brattleboro-area-drop-center.
Here is the text of their indiegogo campaign.
“Dear Low Lily (formerly Annalivia) Friends and Fans,
We– Liz, Lissa, and Flynn– are making our first EP (“Extended Play” which these days means a shorter CD varying from 4-7 tracks in length), and would like to invite you to be a part of it. Right now we are digging in to pre-production mode: writing songs, arranging music, and crafting a sound rich in vocal harmonies, twinkly layers of guitar, and fiddle/mandolin duets. As independent musicians we rely on an amazing community of fans and friends to support new projects and collaborations, and we thank you for being even a small part of making our EP happen. We look forward to starting this new chapter as a band, and with YOU our fans and supporters. We are also proud to collaborate with The Drop In Center in Brattleboro VT, a daytime homeless shelter that provides clothing, food, and facilities to the needy in our own community. The Drop In Center will receive 50% of all funds raised after we meet our goal.

I donated the $15. My thinking is that one, I love this kind of music.
Secondly, I like paying for local music, because the money recirculates. For example, the recording and mixing is going to be done locally, and some of the money spent on that will make its way back into the local economy. Finally, if they receive more than the minimum that they need to create this recording, they will donate 50% to the Drop In Center. Basically, its a win win win situation.
Let’s hope that they sell a ton of these. You can get yours by going to their fundraiser website at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/low-lily-s-new-ep#home
