Brattleboro singer/songwriter and guitar instructor, Lisa McCormick, is teaching the world to how play the guitar. Senior faculty with the leading online guitar education provider, GuitarTricks, McCormick’s comprehensive new Guitar Fundamentals course went live on the internet on October 10.
“Hundreds of thousands of people are going to learn to play the guitar from this course,” says Jon Broderick, Founder and CEO of GuitarTricks. The online education site has a subscription base of over two million members.
McCormick has been teaching guitar in the Brattleboro area for over 20 years, combining her professional music skills with her Bachelors of Science degree in Education.
“When my student waiting list began to exceed my actual student roster by two or three times, I realized I needed to find a way to expand my reach as an educator,” McCormick says.
She responded to an invitation to audition to teach guitar online, via video lessons, at the industry giant, GuitarTricks. She was asked to submit three sample videos of herself teaching a guitar concept.
“I’d never even touched a video camera! But something told me this could be a fun opportunity, so I embarked on the steep learning curve that it took to learn to create video guitar lessons,” McCormick recalls.
Seven years later, she has become one of the most recognized and popular guitar instructors on the internet. “Lisa McCormick is one of the best guitar instructors I’ve ever seen, and probably one of the best in the world,” says Broderick.
McCormick’s comprehensive new course, Guitar Fundamentals 1, contains nearly 180 video lessons, and is now the main entry point for all beginning students studying at GuitarTricks. The course was created and produced in her home video studio in Brattleboro.
Lisa McCormick is currently developing the second level follow-up course, Guitar Fundamentals 2. She is also at work on a new CD of her original songs, scheduled for release in November.
