Sandglass Theater announces the return of our most beloved community event: Puppets in Paradise! This year we are thrilled to present this biennial fundraiser in partnership with Retreat Farm in Brattleboro. Retreat Farm, Ltd., is an independent nonprofit working to restore this Farm as a place for you to learn, play, and gather.
A prominent feature of the Brattleboro landscape for 180 years, Retreat Farm encompasses 500 acres of conserved forests, farmlands, trails, and waterways, and an historic nine-structure Farmstead. With your help and participation, we seek to bring joy, kindness, and inclusion in everything we do. This new partnership is grounded in a shared interest to nurture the relationship between the arts and agricultural in Vermont as a fundamental aspect of our local identity.
At Puppets in Paradise audiences will walk around the farm and encounter puppet, theater and music performances amidst the fields, historic barns and animals. Food and refreshments from local vendors add to the delight of a beautiful day.
This year Sandglass welcomes an exciting roster of first-time and returning performers including Joshua Holden, Chad Williams, Finn Campman, Liz Joyce, Faye Dupras, Rose Friedman and Justin Lander, Honey Goodenough, Cynthia Parker-Houghton, Elena Day and Sandglass co-founders Eric Bass and Ines Zeller Bass. Puppets in Paradise is magical world that will enchant the whole family.
Enjoy a weekend celebration of artistry, community and history thanks to support from New Chapter and Windham Foundation and Vermont State Employee Credit Union (VSECU). Puppets in Paradise runs from 10am to 4pm, last performance begins at 3:45. A hay wagon will facilitate accessibility options for most performance locations. Please allow at least 2 hours to experience the farm, animals, trails, and performances. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 children/students/seniors, $8 per person for families of four and up, EBT and medicaid cardholders. Purchase online at sandglasstheater.org or at the door.
