We Buried Some More Treasure: Here Is How To Find It

Before you set out to find this treasure,

find something that you would like to find.

A trinket, a ring, a little treasure worthy of being found.

Swap it with the one we left for you, so that this treasure hunt can bring a little joy to many different people, perhaps for years.

DO NOT DIG DEEPLY.
The treasure is hidden by the thinnest layer.
I will mark it with an X.
Please hide your treasure safely, only an inch down at most, and under the X.

Here are the clues.

It’s simple, really.

You can do this trip on foot, or take a car or bicycle. It might take 30 minutes if you decide to do it on foot.

Start with the front of the post office to your back, turn right and head south on route 5.

Turn right at the first intersection. (Skip any one-way streets that won’t allow you to do so, and all private driveways, of course.)

Turn left at the next intersection

Turn right then left, repeatedly, until you come stand in front of the symbol of love.

Under your foot, is a treasure. You won’t need to dig far to uncover it.

Keep it, or send it to someone you love.

  • DIG SAFE ! ONLY AN INCH DOWN !

    • Tresure is still waiting to be found

I checked the treasure spot early this morning.

It is still waiting to be found, and sits under it’s X, below the symbol of love.

The X is of such a nature that it can be easily moved. It is merely meant as an aid to your search. So, if you find the symbol of love, and don’t see an X, don’t despair.

Instead of despairing, lift your foot, and dig an inch or so down, and you will find a highly polished beautiful pink stone globe.

Unless of course someone replaced it with some other lovely item for you to find.

My goal is to leave at least 100 of these little treasures around town, for people to find, and to replenish, before I die of ripe old age.

  • a small question

How exactly would a one-way street prevent a person on foot?

Williston, for example, is one that people on foot or bike could go down, but a car could not.

    Any advice or clarity?

    Thanks!

  • Where to find treasure worthy of placing out in Brattleboro

If you want to find the pink globe, remember before you go marching off (right, left, right, left) to first pick up a treasure to take its place.

Maybe there is already some treasure in your home, that is just waiting to be discovered by someone else, and you don’t need to buy anything new. But if you do want to pick something new up for this project, here are the 5 stores in town my wife and I have used.

The first, is where we got the pink highly polished stone globe that is buried beneath the symbol of love. (It’s also where we bought our very affordable wedding rings when we had almost no money.) Beadniks.

Twice upon a Time in Brattleboro is also an excellent place for affordable but beautiful treasures.

And of course, Experienced Goods is simply great.

Gallery in the Woods is a good place for wonderful jewelry, http://galleryinthewoods.com/ as is Delectable Mountain http://www.delectablemountain.com/

There are many other good stores in town where valuable, weather resistant, and (depending on your budget)affordable treasures can be found, but those are the stores we have used in the past.

Also, I am hoping other people might start also creating puzzles and clues to hidden treasures around Brattleboro. It really would be great if there were hundreds of these around town, and all designed to be replenished, so that they last a long, long time.

    • worth trying

If Brattleboro became known for a collection of local puzzles, maps and instructions could easily be distributed at the Chamber of Commerce of the History Center downtown. Not to mention all the stores you mentioned that could be sponsors of printing up the guide.

I accept the challenge to come up with an additional puzzle/treasure. Might take a while, but I’ll try to do it.

It wouldn’t be hard and wouldn’t cost much to add this “layer” to town.

  • Oh that is great !

I really think adding this layer to Brrattleboro would be relatively easy, and just as important, fun to do.

My next treasure hunts will require more complicated puzzles to solve.

If you do one in September, I will too.
