A member of marching band and the math club. A basketball player. A member of the Air Force. Sinbad has been all of these things, but he is best known for comedy.
His style is very clean. I can almost avoid giving the warning for bad language with his show, in which he often comes across as a big kid, or maybe a nutty uncle. He seems like he would be fun to invite to a party.
I think I had seen a bit of his standup before he took the role of the coach on ‘A Different World’ in the late 80’s.
It’s hard not to chuckle when Sinbad is performing. However, if you feel you might become offended, by all means go do something else.
Growing up back then vs. now
His recollections of growing up in the 70’s were spot on:
– being forced to play outside almost all of the time
– having clothes bought for you
– needing to be inside by the time the streetlight came on
These are foreign concepts to kids now.
