This is a 1996 concert film by Laurie Anderson filmed at the Park Theater in Union City, New Jersey a year earlier. It’s filled with music, stories, vocoded voices, and electric violins. Also keep an eye out for guests Adrian Belew and William S. Burroughs.
This was filmed during her tour for Mister Heartbreak, a really spectacular and mostly forgotten album that we should all listen to again. Anderson was at the top of her game and was pioneering in her own avante garde, punk, poetic way.
I remember thinking that this album was an excellent candidate for a high quality metal cassette tape.
She eventually married Lou Reed.

Oh, wow...such a good choice,
Oh, wow…such a good choice, Chris. I’ve been fortunate enough to see her perform several times in a variety of venues from large concert halls to cozy, rooms where everyone’s elbows were touching. She is spectacular in any venue.
O Superman
Never got to see her myself, but was always interested in what she was doing. I was happy to stumble on the film, though, and put it up for everyone.
She was host of PBS’s Alive From Off Center for a few years (along with her “clone”). It was a great series showcasing independent video art projects, and Anderson was a perfect choose of host. That show saved me from boredom many a summer and introduced me to a slew of video artists and works I would never have seen otherwise.
