Minutes of Mar 17, 2021 approved.
1. Dottie Morris and Mary Gannon training schedule- August looks like best time.
Administrators under intense stress; additional work on recovery recently added. Concern that it has been put off for five years. Urgency different for white people. Can it be part of the recovery work? Andy will identify days in August and schedule with Dottie and Mary.
2. Update on Diverse Hiring progress- Stacey described work developing application questions, retention questions, acclimating new staff members. Joined Handshake to get more outreach.
Adding .5FTE recruiter- posting will go up shortly. Using Diversity Equity position to cover the recruiter.
Request for data on BIPOC students in each school and BIPOC staff in each school and districtwide.
Will help establish goals that lead to metrics to measure progress.
Can Communications Council help get word out?
Statement of Commitment to go on all communications sent to Amendment and Policy
Committee- “The Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) is an increasingly diverse learning community with an ongoing commitment to social justice and anti-racism. We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to join us in furthering this work.”
3. Action items- Ask PPEC and Board for Request for data on BIPOC students in each school and BIPOC staff in each school and district-wide. This will help establish goals that lead to metrics to measure progress in diversifying staff.
Date for setting schedule for Dottie and Mary sessions.
Can Communications Council help get word out? We will ask them.
NABSE April 3 and other job fairs- requires videos, pamphlets, etc. Prioritize this work. Stacey will look into NABSE fair- nabse.org
