The Windham Southeast Supervisory Union School Board is thrilled to announce that Andrew Skarzynski has been offered the position as our new Superintendent of Schools. After an extensive four-month search process, the Board chose Skarzynski in part for his strong management skills, his experience with diverse student populations and his commitment to student centered learning. His start date is July 1, 2020.
“The Board looks forward to welcoming Andrew to our organization and to the families that we serve,” said WSESU Board Chair Kerry Amidon. “Andrew stood out among a highly qualified field of candidates for his passion and proven track record in making student-focused decisions. His strength as a communicator and a collaborative leader focused on building positive relationships will benefit our school community. We want to thank our entire community who played an active role during this very public process.”
The WSESU Board established a Superintendent Search Exploratory Committee in December, holding 3 well attended public meetings to gather community input. In January, local consultant group Thrive, LLC was hired to conduct a community vision survey as well as to facilitate public forums on the needs of our school community. This information was used to inform the Board and assist in the creation of the job posting.
Amidon said, “From the start of this process, the board has worked to include as many voices as possible with key stakeholders – teachers, parents, community members, support staff, administrators and students, all having a seat at the table. We estimate that we have had over 1,000 people involved in this process.”
Skarzynski is currently the Principal of Rutland Intermediate School and has 23 years of experience in education since beginning his career as a 7th grade teacher in Colorado.
Skarzynski will replace Lyle Holiday who announced her retirement last November.
