Job Hunt Helper at Brooks Memorial Library

During the months of March and April, visitors to the Brooks Memorial Library can consult will CCV student intern Ben Howe for help using computer technology for job and career-related tasks. Ben will meet individually with citizens to help them explore careers and online education, prepare resumes, search for jobs, and complete online job applications. Ben’s services are provided through a partnership between the Community College of Vermont and the Vermont Department of Libraries, which will place “Job Hunt Helpers” in town libraries in six Vermont communities. These services are made possible by funding from the J. Warren and Lois McClure Foundation and federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Those wishing to make an appointment with Ben may do so by calling the Brooks Memorial Library at (802) 254-5290 x109 (Reference Desk) or by emailing jobhuntbml@gmail.com. Drop-in help will also be provided on a first-come, first-served basis during Ben’s library hours: Tuesday evenings, 5:00-8:00 and Thursday afternoons, 1:00-4:00.  The library also has desktop public access computers, laptops, and mobile devices for use during open hours, which includes three evenings per week (Monday-Wednesday) until 9:00 p.m.
Clients of the Vermont Department of Labor Resource Center who want to continue their job-related work after that center closes are encouraged to visit the library during evening hours and on Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.
