  • We're on Oak St and also had

We’re on Oak St and also had a lot of Star Wars trick or treaters (maybe the same kids?) Not as many zombies as I expected – lots of princesses and a very adorable devil who was bundled up in a fleecy devil costume and being transported from street to street in a stroller adorned with flashing red devil horns. One of my favorites was the “Zom -BEE”, a great bumblebee costume with very scary zombie makeup- pretty clever. I love Halloween here- we get between 150 and 200 kids – lots of families with the parents dressed up- a few teenagers. But all the kids are happy and friendly and polite. Fun night.

  • The Mini-Parade

Melrose Terrace gets an annual mini-parade by the Academy School kids. The teachers go all out, the kids are so excited and kitted out… but my favorite part is the littlest ones. Totally clueless, their costumes sagging off their shoulders or dragging behind, they haplessly waddle along with everyone else. The most charming, endearing sight of the year.

    • littlest

We had one very determined tiny duck that waddled quickly to the front stairs, then sort of fell over and climbed them, a bit like Ralphie coming back up the slide for Santa, with great determination and effort, and a bit of parental assistance.

      You could almost hear the thought process: “I… will… climb… these… stairs… for… my … CANDY!”

I like the Zom-bees mentioned above – great mash-up of two classics.
