Dear Governor Scott: Protect Our Books and Librarians

I just sent this msg to our Governor. We should start this movement.

Dear Governor Scott,

Please consider doing this for Vermont. We cherish our freedom and our libraries.

“PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law Monday to prohibit public and school libraries from banning books in the state and to enshrine protections against civil and criminal charges for librarians who comply with the law.”

Thank you,
Laura Austan

  • Yes

    Illinois and Minnesota, too.

This shouldn’t be necessary but would be easy to do.

  • A good idea.

This protects against the red-team form of this issue. Hopefully any law will be crafted to also prevent the blue-team version: librarians “weeding” books, often classics, on ideological grounds, or because they don’t like the sex, race, or age of the author, etc.

  • Email your state leggies

The best way to get this done is the state leg, but we need to lean on Scott to not veto or ignore it.

  • Crickets

I emailed Emilie Kornheiser also, no reply from either.
