This small group exhibit, entitled “Four Perspectives,” represents the work of Al Karevy, Davida Carta, Joshua Farr, & Vaune Trachtman, four different local artists who are members of the Vermont Center for Photography in downtown Brattleboro. Each of these artists create photographic work covering a diverse range of style and subject matter, though are unified via a shared passion for the photographic arts and its many expressive possibilities. Each of the four artists will be displaying a small selection from a body of work, giving a greater context to their creative vision and process.
The exhibit will be in place August 19-November 12. The NXT Gallery, on the second floor of Next Stage Arts, at 15 Kimball Hill, in Putney, is open during events in the theater and by appointment. An opening reception will be held in the gallery on Sunday, August 27, 3-5pm.

Al Karevy
(Richmond, NH)
Al Karevy is a professional commercial photographer with a studio in Keene, NH. He has worked for many regional and national clients. His latest photographs of food were published in The Moosewood Restaurant Table cookbook in fall of 2017. All of Karevy’s commercial work is digital capture, so not surprisingly, much of his personal photo work is film and darkroom based including camera-less photography. Karevy works with pinhole, toy, and antique cameras and also makes handmade books and photo-polymer etchings which have been exhibited in many regional exhibition spaces.
Davida Carta
(Brattleboro, VT)
Originally born and raised in Milan Italy, she later moved to the US. Since then she has been living in New England, between Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut. In 2016 she created Underexposed Magazine, an online platform that offers visibility and resources to women and non binary photographers. Davida graduated in 2018 from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester NH, with a Masters of Fine Art in Photography and since then she has been curating photographic projects and mentoring artists. She is currently working at the Vermont Center for Photography and at Landmark College teaching photography. Davida’s personal work is informed by her experience as a foreigner, and her curiosity to explore the intimate places we occupy in our everyday life.
Joshua Farr
(Guilford, VT)
Joshua Farr is a photographer, curator, designer, printer, art-handler, and Director at the Vermont Center for Photography. Since 2011, Josh has been responsible for curating the center’s monthly photographic exhibitions as well as assisting with the organizing of photographic workshops, artists talks, publications/catalogues, & portfolio reviews. Joshua worked for the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center from 2012 to 2022 where he was a staff photographer and exhibitions installer/art-handler. Graduating in 2011, he received his BFA in Photography from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Josh lives in Guilford, VT with his partner and two dogs.
Vaune Trachtman
(Brattleboro, VT)
Vaune Trachtman received her BA from Marlboro College and her MA from New York University and The International Center for Photography. Exhibitions of her work include Soho Photo and the International Center of Photography, Vermont Center for Photography, The Center for Photographic History and Technology, SE Center for Photography, Art Intersection, Photo Place Gallery, Southern Vermont Arts Center, & Candela Gallery. Vaune has been awarded residencies and fellowships at Remarque Print Workshop, Albuquerque, NM; the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; and the Tusen Takk Foundation, Leland, MI.

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Vermont Center for Photography is a non-profit organization in downtown Brattleboro dedicated to promoting the photographic arts through fine-art exhibitions and education.
