Brattleboro and VT COVID-19 Regional Dashboard Summary – August 2024

Here’s the August 2024 dashboard summary. We continue semi-regular COVID-19 dashboard numbers from the Vermont Department of Health, and MA and NH counties that surround Brattleboro, as long as they continue providing them. Scroll down the new comments for the latest.

VT, NH and MA do weekly updates, near the end of the week, so we update on Fridays usually. All three have changed their dashboards since the start, so it is now tough to easily compare how things have changed. Variant updates are every two weeks.

    VT ( Wednesday updates)

Note: As of April 30, 2024, hospitals are no longer required to report COVID-19 Hospital data. CDC strongly encourages hospitals to continue reporting these data, but following the May 1st COVID-19 Surveillance Report, the Department will no longer be providing updated Hospitalization Levels with our weekly report.

Starting May 8th, the COVID-19 Surveillance Report will include additional indicators to provide current information on the impact of COVID-19 in Vermont.

Report Timeframe: July 21 to July 27, 2024

KP.2 and KP.3 are the dominant circulating variants. Some limited specimen quantities may impact
proportion accuracy. Source: Vermont Department of Health Whole Genome Sequencing program.

KP.2 is the dominant circulating variant in wastewater. Samples from two wastewater sites, Bennington and Ludlow, are sequenced to estimate the proportion of circulating variants.

Concentrations have increased in Montpelier (see chart below) and remain elevated at Burlington
North (data not shown – see link below) Some week-to-week fluctuation is expected.

“COVID-19 testing patterns have changed over time. Current case counts includes reports of people tested with a molecular test (confirmed cases) and those tested by a health care provider using an antigen test (probable cases). Individuals testing themselves using at-home antigen tests are not included. Case counts represent only a portion of people with COVID-19 and should be interpreted with caution. Current case counts should not be compared to earlier parts of the pandemic.”

    VT ( Wednesday updates)

Note (8/14/2024): As of August 2024, there is an insufficient volume of data from Vermont wastewater sites for wastewater variant reporting, so the wastewater variant chart has been removed from the COVID-19 Surveillance Report. Other sites continue to submit wastewater samples for monitoring of viral concentration, and the Department’s Public Health Laboratory continues to receive COVID-19 specimens from hospitals to identify genomic variants.
