TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Motorists should remain alert for construction traffic entering and exiting the work zone from Vermont Route 142 and Depot Street.
Due to current work on New Hampshire Route 119 associated with the project, the eastbound lane shift on NH 119 shortly after traveling over the twin bridges remains active. Signs and barrels are in place to assist motorists through the work zone.
Deck Overhangs at the Vermont Abutment.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Overhang formwork for the bridge deck and welding the girders to the VT abutment bridge shoes has been completed.
Crews are continuing to install stainless steel rebar for the bridge deck, and should complete that next week.
Conduit and hanger supports are being installed along the underside of the bridge this week, and should be completed early next week.
Formwork for sidewalks and rail copings are being installed on the bridge deck. The contractor plans on placing concrete late next week or early the following week.
Paving the intersection of Georges Field Road and NH 119 is tentatively scheduled for midweek. The eastbound lane shift for NH 119 will remain through next week.
Dewatering and treatment tanks that have been awaiting removal are scheduled to be taken away next week.
LOCATION:
The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.
