And Now …

Prior to the election of Donald Trump there was discussion on i Brattleboro that Donald Trump was unlikely to win and that If he did win that Hilary would have been equally as wrong for the country.

I felt that, at least for people of color and those seen as different: That the difference between the effect of two candidates would be very different in degree.

I thought that Trump had a good chance of winning and the effect would be disastrous. I was not surprised when he did win. The difference became evident the next day with the report that elementary grade school children were bullied in schools by pro-Trump students.

I ask that those who did not vote because the two parties are the same, or that they voted for a third party member, think again.

There was evidence enough, the last time, of this man’s behavior, intentions and manipulations. It is blatantly clear that this man and his cohorts must be defeated.

I hope the Dems are smarter than last time and do not go with the establishment candidate (this time Biden). If they stack the system with super delegates again, we still must do everything to stop this man and his movement and vote him and his supporters out of office.

Trump is making America hate again.

At his North Carolina campaign rally last night, Trump lashed out at Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar — a US citizen who was a refugee from Somalia as a child. His supporters, predominantly white, started chanting and shouting, “SEND HER BACK!” Kaitlan Collins of CNN reported that Trump “paused a moment to let that chant grow some momentum.”

This is really ugly, folks…

Former Obama speechwriter (and Mass. native) Jon Favreau wrote, “The crowd at Trump’s rally chanting “send her back” after the President viciously and dishonestly attacked Ilhan Omar is one of the most chilling and horrifying things I’ve ever seen in politics.”

Note the word “dishonestly.” It refers to the lies Trump told about Omar during his speech, lies that are widely circulating on the right. For example, Omar never said, “You say ‘al-Qaida,’ it makes you proud.” But this is Trumpville, where the truth goes to die.
