The time has come to give the main theatre a big send off and we are going to do it up right, with a showcase of local musical talent never before seen on our stage!
We’re talking about Rock the Latchis! presenting four of the area’s top bands the day before the main theatre closes for renovations.
Yes, the last day is reserved for hot music and dancing in the aisles.
Alafia is an 11 piece ensemble of horns, guitars, bass and percussion. Performing together since October 2011, their world beat creates an irresistible polyrhythmic dance groove.
Bella’s Bartok provides more dancy tunes, compliments of piano, guitar, horns and percussion. Called gypsy punk, absurd and charming, they have a distinct bohemian vibe.
Colby Dix is a solo performer , but close your eyes and you’d never know it. Looping layers of sound as he plays live, the result is indie rock, alt-country and pop as you’ve never heard it.
Jatoba plays “groove-grass”! How great is that?! And what is that…? An amalgamation of styles and genres laid down with quick bluegrass tempos driven by rockabilly-like bass lines and hit-the-ceiling vocal harmonies.
Speaking of the ceiling, this concert is a benefit for Latchis Arts’ seats and ceiling campaign, The Campaign for The Heavens and The Earth.
