Brattleboro, VT—Youth Services announced today its newest fundraiser, a helicopter golf ball drop raffle in which one lucky individual is guaranteed to win $3000 with a once-in-a-lifetime ride in a helicopter thrown in for good measure.
The Golf Ball Drop will take place on Wednesday, July 31 at the Brattleboro Country Club’s 9th Fairway between 5:30 and 6 p.m., at the conclusion of Youth Services’ 28th Annual Youth Services Golf Tournament, though winners need not be present to win the money, according to organizers.
Buckets of numbered golf balls will be dropped from about 20 feet up by Steve Hellus from a helicopter piloted by Mike Renaud of Renaud Bros., Inc. of Vernon, VT, the drop sponsor. The owner of the golf ball closest to the pin wins the pot and an opportunity to take a 10-minute ride over the Brattleboro area on the spot.
Each golf ball costs $100 and only 100 balls will be sold, giving each contender a one-in-a-hundred or better chance at the prize. Youth Services’ golf ball drop raffle aims to raise $7000 in funding for its programs which strengthen the relationships and support systems for children, youth and families in Windham County.
Youth Services is celebrating its 40th Anniversary of helping local families thrive. Tickets are being sold by Youth Services representatives in person. To buy a golf ball on-line visit www.youthservicesinc.org/golf-ball-drop or call (802) 257-0361 for more information.
Umbrellas
I don’t think I have one that is guaranteed for golf balls from heaven but it seems like it might morph into a hit song for Tony Bennet or someone like that.
20 feet
Great idea. At first I imagined balls dropping from hundreds of feet, but seeing that the height is 20 feet it makes much more sense.
Those participating will want to take into account the wind of the helicopter blades. Should be a fun calculation. Best of luck to all!
