A Tempo Senior Move Slates Activities for May: “Older Americans’ Month”
Originally decreed by President John F. Kennedy in 1963 as Senior Citizens’ Month, and now known as Older Americans’ Month, May is a good time to think about services offered in New England by A Tempo Senior Move. Offering advice and services related to the changes often experienced by retirees and seniors as they get older, A Tempo Senior Move is participating in a number of events scheduled for the month throughout the region, including a recent clinical workshop at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis presented by Christina Healy, RN, MA, and Dr. Marjorie Kettell. Healy is a geri-psych clinician and psychoanalyst on staff of A Tempo Senior Move.
The week of May 12-18, 2013 has been declared National Senior Move Managers Week and the theme of this 7th annual celebration is “Redefining Relocation for Boomers & Beyond”. A Tempo Senior Move is a member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM), a not-for-profit, professional association of organizations dedicated to assisting older adults and families with the physical and emotional demands of downsizing, relocating, or modifying their homes. Later in the month (on May 24th), A Tempo Senior Move is co-sponsoring the Exceptional Retiree Awards Dinner hosted by Equinox Village in Manchester, Vermont. Emcee for the evening at this closed event is oral historian and radio personality Naomi Arenberg, also on staff of A Tempo Senior Move.
On Tuesday, May 28th, A Tempo Senior Move founder and manager, Alice Abraham, MLS, will speak at the Putney Cares Senior Luncheon. Her talk, “Right-sizing and Maple Syrup” will offer attendees safety tips for aging-in-place and down-sizing for a transition. For more information, call 802-387-5593.
Wednesday, May 29th, will be the culmination of Older Americans’ Month when A Tempo Senior Move offers a free event at the Mattapoisett Public Library (MA).
