Clarification?
Is this one instead of the sale that happens during the Heifer parade, or in addition to it?
Clarification
The April sale will replace the Strolling of the Heifer Parade sale this year. The Library is undergoing a computer-catalog conversion project the early part of June and as with any computer conversation, it may require “all hands on deck” to focus (;-), so we thought we’d do the sale earlier. We’ve got lots of books! Your participation in the sale is always welcome and your patronage supports many programs of the library, including museum passes, Indie Flix, the First Wednesdays programs and Childrens’ Room programs.
See you at the Library!
Awesome
I love the Library book sales. I find the most interesting books there. Can’t wait for this one.
Answering my own question
I asked above whether this book sale would take the place of the one that has occurred the same day as the heifer parade. In case anyone else has wondered the same thing, I finally found the answer in the agenda of the 15 March meeting of the Friends of Brooks Memorial Library:
>>”4. Unfinished Business:
>>
>> * April 12 -13 – Staffing for April booksale (Apr. 12-13) June booksale cancelled”
The agenda can be found here:

It’s too bad — the parade brings in a lot of out-of-towners who could be potential shoppers at the book sale. I hope the friends will reconsider and perhaps hold another sale in June if the April one disappoints.
Already answered
Actually, someone from the Friends committee answered your question a couple of days ago on this thread. From what I understand the computer system conversion is a huge undertaking and organizing the book sales is also a large undertaking requiring many, many volunteers and staff. It seems since the computer system update is a one time thing (at least for a few years) the library made the right decision in rescheduling the book sale for April. Plenty of notice for folks to put it on their calendar.Let’s all hope for beautiful weather!
