Weekend Comedy Series – Robin Williams

In 1986 Robin Williams star had risen and he taped the following performance at the Met in NYC.

It seems to be an accurate representation of what people most enjoyed about him to that point – a manic genius. Part of that may have been some the cocaine he was known to be doing, but it was mostly a real talent for laser-quick improv, free-association, and ability to mimic and caricature.

He had also been through his Mork years and on into movies by this point. Popeye and Garp had come out, and Good Morning Vietnam may have been in his hands as a script about the time this was recorded.

This was one of his last major live performances in the 1980’s.

As always and especially with Mr. Williams, a warning that this is for adult viewers who understand that a comedian tells jokes that are sometimes offensive or off-color. Some humor is woefully dated, as well. This is presented to grown-ups for historical purposes only. Please do not laugh.
