Join Marlboro College scholar Amer Latif for a discussion of Salman Rushdie’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories. This book is part of the 2015 Vermont Humanities Council Vermont Reads program. Books are available at the Main Circulation Desk while supplies last. Haroun and the Sea of Stories is the tale of a twelve-year-old boy on a quest to revive the “Sea of Stories” in order to restore his father’s storytelling ability and the balance of imagination and freedom of speech to the entire land. With tongue twisting and comical language, this book makes for a great read and a great read aloud. Children and adults alike will enjoy identifying the many subtle cultural references, including the Beatles, Arabian Nights, StarWars, the films of Satyajit Ray, and Alice in Wonderland.

Join Salman Rushdie, the author of VHC’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories, in this live streaming event in the Library’s Meeting Room. Rushdie will talk about the importance of storytelling.
