Library Bookcase Raffle

LIBRARY RAFFLE: HAND CRAFTED COLONIAL BOOKCASE

The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library have announced that they will hold a raffle for a locally designed and built Colonial design pine bookcase.  Tickets for the raffle will be available at the Brooks Memorial Library from Monday, November 10 through Saturday, December 13.

Donated to the Friends by a local craftsman, Paul Rodrigue, this bookcase is handmade of pine cut from nearby Alstead, New Hampshire. The bookcase is 44 inches tall and 24 inches wide.  The traditional dovetail joints are all hand cut.

The warm honey pine finish is the result of multiple hand-rubbed layers of carefully applied finish.
The five shelves are spaced to hold contemporary standard size hardback and paperback books.  The bookcase will be on display in the Library after November 10th.

Craftsman Paul Rodrigue has been working with wood for over 13 years and learned his trade from a New Hampshire timber framer and furniture maker.  Rodrigue’s woodworking is mainly in the Colonial style and includes large and small pieces of furniture. Rodrique is also an Outpatient Mental Health therapist at the Brattleboro Retreat.

Proceeds from the raffle will go to support the purchase of books and services for the Library.  Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5, and are available at the Front Desk of the Library.  The raffle drawing will be on Monday, December 15, and the winner will be notified by phone.
