One of the best investments you can make is improving your home’s energy efficiency. The average Vermonter can save 20-30% on their energy bills through a home efficiency project – an average of $1,000/year!
The Vermont Home Energy Challenge is making it easier than ever to cut your home heating and cooling bills. During 2013, local contractors are offering professional energy audits for $250, with that amount credited to you if you move forward with a home efficiency project of at least $2,000 of additional work, such as insulating and air sealing. You can receive up to $2,500 in incentives from Efficiency Vermont and the federal government for additional work. Many local banks and credit unions offer lower-interest loans for home efficiency projects.
Homeowners in participating towns can sign up for a free energy visit. A team of trained volunteers will visit your home to review home heating usage, identify energy-saving opportunities, and help you find resources to reduce energy bills.
