Joan Bowman is excited to announce that she will be running for a seat in the Vermont State Senate, representing Windham County, as a Democrat.
“I am pleased to announce my candidacy and look forward to a spirited campaign that focuses on the issues that matter to residents of Windham County. Over the last six months I have had the pleasure of serving as a navigator for the Vermont Health Connect program. In this capacity I assisted hundreds of Vermonters in their efforts to finally get the affordable health care they deserve. As a Vermont State Senator I will work toward sensible solutions that pilot our region and state towards economic prosperity and social equity.”
Even prior to her announcement, Joan has dedicated much of her time to helping those in her community. Joan serves as board member and treasurer for Putney Cares, is a member of the steering committee for the Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition and was a member of the Windham County Organizing Committee for the Vermont Workers Center. She has also frequently volunteered for organizations such as the Vermont Food Bank, Marlboro College and Transition Putney.
Joan’s professional background prepares her for a role in the Vermont State Senate. Joan holds an M.B.A. from the Eli Broad College of Business, Michigan State University. She has a long of history of success and innovation in the business world which led her to form Joan Bowman Communications LLC, a consulting company that she operates from Putney.
One of seven siblings, Joan was born in 1951 and raised in Bay City, Michigan. Joan has a grown son, Christopher, who currently lives in South Hero, Vermont.
