2013 Halloween Costume List for Cedar Street

Halloween 2013 was a spooky one. It was raining and very, very dark on Cedar Street. The power went out just before 6 p.m. leaving every house without light.

And out of the darkness they came. First small and alone, then in increasing numbers. By our count, 196 goblins came out of the darkness in search of treats.

Very nice work, with many kids going all out with full costumes and make-up. Not a lot of store-bought this year, too, which was nice.

An award goes to the jellyfish who had both an umbrella and lights as part of the costume, making it the most ideal costume for a street that had lost power and a night with rain.

We need to give some others out for creativity to the beaver with operating tail, the toilet set, wolf-mauled Red Riding Hood, Cleopatra, the Brady girls, Anonymous, and the headless woman.

In the category of my sister and her husband would have loved it, awards go to the 60’s library nerd and zombie clarinetist.

Special awards for all the home-made costumes. There were some fabulous genies, princesses, wolves, pirates, and others.

There were only a handful this year that failed to put in any effort.

And special awards for all the parents, who seemed to be dressed as Mary Poppins. They had umbrellas.
