On Friday, October 25th, Kurn Hattin Homes for Children will hold its 22nd Annual Mental Health Conference, Treating Trauma and Attachment Issues in Children and Families. This full-day workshop offers support, practical training, and continuing education credits for counselors and therapists, social workers, educators, medical and legal professionals, caregivers, therapeutic parents, and anyone involved in the field of child welfare or family services.
This year’s featured speakers are Terry Levy, Ph.D., B.C.F.E. and Michael Orleans, M.A., D.A.P.A., co-founders of the Evergreen Psychotherapy Center and the Attachment Treatment and Training Institute in Evergreen, Colorado. They are also co-founders of ATTACh (The Association for the Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children) and the authors of Attachment, Trauma and Healing (Child Welfare League of America, 1998), and Healing Parents: Helping Wounded Children Learn to Trust and Love (Child Welfare League of America, 2006).
The focus of their workshop will be on concepts, skills, and solutions of child and family therapy, as well as healing parenting. The presenters will emphasize effective assessment techniques, therapeutic interventions, and strategies to facilitate positive change with children and families coping with attachment issues as a result of experiencing trauma, neglect, or emotional, psychological, or physical abuse.
Event will be held Friday, October 25th from 8:45 AM to 3:30 PM in Kurn Hattin Homes’ Higbie Auditorium. Cost is $125 per person ($110 discount for groups of 3 or more).Registration fee includes lunch.
