100 Year Old Tree Down in Crowell Lot?

Anybody know what happened to the tree in the Crowell Lot around 3/17? Lightning? Wind? I think D&E Tree was on the scene to clean up the body. The kids just got a new piece of playground equipment - 2 tree stumps. While I'm at the Crowell Lot, has anyone noticed the basketball stuck in the tree about 50 feet up?

Anyone Have Experience with VTel?

Our neighborhood in Guilford is beyond the terminus for cable, so we use Fairpoint DSL, which is, let's say: better than dial-up. It looks as though a newish company called VTel is promoting itself as intending to cover all of Vermont with good broadband, via, as I understand it, a combination of fiber-optic and some wireless technology. They may be making progress on reaching our area. So I'm asking if anyone knows about them, or, possibly, uses their services?  There have been some similar-sounding schemes lately that haven't turned out well (see the Great Auk story in today's Reformer.)

Help with Final School Project

Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for helping me with my survey for my last school project. We just started our final project (can't believe it's almost over) and would love it if any of you could help by taking this survey. It will take approximately five minutes and your help is greatly appreciated. Feel free to share it with your friends as well.

Thank you!

Care To Help With A School Project?

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a project for school. I am studying User Experience Design which is the study of consumer behavior and desires to create products and services that enrich peoples lives (and things they actually want to use!) Right now my group is working on a project and we have a short survey (less than 5 minutes). If you would like to contribute by filling out the survey and/or sharing it with your friends. That would be a huge help.

Thank you everyone!

Japanese or Asian Language Groups Around Brattleboro?

Are there any groups in this area who get together to talk in Japanese?  I know there's a Spanish group, so it occurred to me there might be an Asian group of some sort.  On behalf of a college-age relative who is extremely into Japanese (incuding anime, manga, foods), so I'm looking for possible social outlets.

Where to Donate Clothes in Brattleboro?

My grandson has outgrown a lot of his clothes - they are all of good quality and in good shape. No stains or tears, etc. Looking for suggestions on where to donate them - maybe a shelter? In the past I've given lots of clothes to Experienced Goods but have found that they often don't get put out in the approriate season. I think at times they're just swamped with donations and things get put aside. We'd like them to be given to families for free. They are sizes ranging from probably 4 - 5 , some size 6.- a little bit of everything- shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pjs.

Any thoughts? Or, if anyone knows of a a family who has a boy around 4 or 5 who are in need of warm clothes please message me with the info, if approriate. Thanks.

Consider Brattleboro Police & Fire Projects Separately?

In our meeting last evening, members of the Brattleboro Town Finance Committee introduced, and then tabled until a subsequent meeting, a motion to recommend to the Town administration and the Representative Town Meeting that the Police & Fire Department renovations, modifications, and additions be considered separately on their merits.

Members of the Finance Committee would appreciate public feedback and ideas. We noted that several public informational sessions are scheduled. We hope that clarity on the issue will emerge over the next few weeks.

BSL Requires My Mobile Device Number Or Else

Today my online banking site told me I had just three chances to give them my mobile device or I would be cut off from electronic access to my funds. What the HECK?? Is this happening to other people at other banks?

I will pull my money out if they insist. This is the message I get:
"You are required to provide your mobile device phone number below. If you do not complete this requirement within the maximum number of opportunities allowed by your financial institution (3), your log in will be blocked. If you are prompted for text authentication, your screen will display a button to send a passcode to your device and an entry field into which the code must be typed. Once authentication has been completed, the transaction will process."

Very Old Vinyl Records

I have 3 boxes of very old (1920's 78's and forward) vinyl records that are in unknown condition, though likely not the greatest.  Before I throw them out, I thought I would make one final inquiry, to the great minds of ibrattleboro, as to whether or not there might be some possible use for them.  I have been assured by several pretty reliable sources that they are not aware of any people or places that would want them.  It seems just wrong to me that there is not a use for them, either through some creative recycling purpose or as records, but it appears that is the probably case.  Please, if anyone has any possible ideas, let me know here. Thanks so much!!
