The next "Brattleboro Citizens' Breakfast" will take place on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Gibson Aiken Center, downstairs, hosted by Senior Meals. Doors open at 7:30am.
We plan to hear from Ann Braden of Gun Sense Vermont ~ http://gunsensevt.org/ ~ The presentation will include the current state of Vermont gun laws and proposals for change.
Is there a need for a change? Here are some statistics to think about and explore:
Vermont had the 16th Highest Rate of gun trafficking per capita in 2009 http://tracetheguns.org/#/states/VT/exports/
Vermont had the highest rate of gun deaths (including suicides) in New England (twice that of Massachusetts) in 2010
Gun Sense Vermont, a 501(c)(4) organization, is composed of gun owners and non-gun owners; doctors and teachers; hunters and veterans; civic leaders and religious leaders. Members come from 140 different Vermont towns. The organization promotes gun safety laws that respect the Second Amendment and protect our children and communities by keeping guns out of the wrong hands.
