Found Cat - Dummerston

This very friendly and talkative kitty announced herself to me this morning from inside my chimney. I opened the flu and she fell into my living room, where she seemed quite at home.

I put her back outside, and she found her way back to the roof, looking like she was trying to find her way down the chimney again.

She is hanging around outside. If someone knows where she belongs, I'd love to get her home before the weather turns cold again.

She is currently on Middle Rd in Dummerston, near Kipling Rd.

Chimney Kitty

Maybe it's practicing to be a Santa Cat even though Christmas is 11 months and 13 days away!

could be...

getting very cold again. Maybe take her to Windham County Humane so she is protected from any sudden drop in temps.

Found Cat

Wow, she's really clean considering she's been in a chimney! If you haven't already, you might want to put a "found" listing on the Humane Soc. web site.

Found Cat

Oooh! She's gorgeous! I think the Reformer lets you put in a free classified for found animals. Hope she gets reconnected with her people.

a ride

I have a cat carrier and I'd be more than happy to transport her to Windham Humane Society. She looks so sweet. Besides the elements there is always the danger of foxes and fisher cats. If you are interested leave a message here and we can connect.

Is there something else down

Is there something else down the chimney? Another cat perhaps? Weird that she would keep trying to get in the chimney......

She spent a few hours hanging

She spent a few hours hanging around outside after I coaxed her off the roof for the second time, and then hopefully decided to go back home to a home I hope she has.
I kept an eye out for her, and she wasn't around in the evening, and thankfully wasn't stuck in the chimney again (or hanging around outside) when I got home today.
I suspect she is just a way too curious neighbor looking to use up some spare lives.
I think she figured out this was a cat friendly house and was just trying to find her way in. I actually assumed it was my cat yowling when I opened up the flue, he goes up on the roof now and then, but uses a cat door, not the chimney when he wants to come in. I was surprised to see a DIFFERENT cat fall out. He hissed and growled at her when they did meet, but she seemed mostly unperturbed, despite him being about twice her size. I'm glad he didn't clue her in to where the cat door is.
I let Zeke, the Dummerston Animal Control person, know she was here and he is keeping an ear out for where she might belong.
I will definitely step in if she is hanging around and the weather is not the current January thaw. That's how I wound up with my current four legged housemate.

Stove Cat Wedding

Sounds like you don't use your stove/furnace/boiler much, Sir.
you are a Vermonter, no?

Two more like her and you can play calico bridge.

What did she think of your bong-tree?

I'd leave some quince and a runcible spoon on your porch
in case she returns.

_______

I
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"

II
Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-Tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,
His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

III
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
