Thank You, and Post-Election Survey on Brattleboro Polling Location

I am writing to thank a number of people who worked to make the voting  positive experience for most voters.  Many members of the Board of Civil Authority who are your elected Justices of the Peace, as well as the Town Constables, the employees of the Town Clerk’s Office and nearly two dozen volunteers provided voters with a smooth and professional environment for voting.

The staff, members, and officers of the VFW Carl Dessaint Post 1034 were instrumental in the availability and preparation of the location for voters.  You, the voters were understanding and cooperative in the efficient operation of the polling place.  More than 40% of Brattleboro voters chose to vote early by mail or in person, clearly easing the traffic issues.

We are well aware of the problems and frustration faced by voters with Putney Road traffic, dodging the intrusive behavior of petitioners and politicians who hovered at the exit door to the polling place, and the difficulty of negotiating the exit area in the dark.  These issues and many more will be the topics of discussion when dealing with a voting location in the future.  Greater effort will be made in convincing the Brattleboro Police Department to station an officer at any polling place to address the traffic situation faced by voters throughout the day.

We are definitely interested in getting your feedback and have set up an on-line survey for your comments.  Simply go to    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M9Z5PC5   and complete the survey.  This will help us improve and create a better experience for all voters.  Finally, I want to thank our Town Clerk, Annette Cappy, who worked non-stop in the weeks approaching election day.  We will all miss Annette who will retire from her position at the end of December.

Elliott Greenblott
Chairman, Brattleboro Board of Civil Authority
