WVEW Back On Air, But Stream Goes Silent

WVEW 107.7 , Brattleboro’s low-power community station, has stopped streaming.

The major storms of June 19th knocked the station off the air. (It knocked WKVT off the air for a short while, too.) Brattleboro radios tuned to 107.7 were treated to a week of static. Luckily, things have been worked out and you can now hear WVEW over the airwaves again.

Typically, the go-to solution when there is trouble with the over-the-air signal is to direct listeners to the WVEW stream, and it worked again this time. The station had created an app, available for mobile devices and had links on their web page. Many shows had many streaming listeners, and Brattleboro folks could take WVEW with them when they were out of the area.

They’re Coming To Take You Away, Ha, Ha.

Warning! Reader Discretion. Graphic Fascist thoughts and feelings may be realized. All of you internet denizens of free speech and antiestablishment, if you don't want "to be scooped up," beware! Pay particular attention to the italics in the last paragraph

Words like fascist and authoritarian get thrown around too promiscuously. But there is no other way to describe David Clarke, who today announced that he was named assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. The Department has not confirmed Clarke’s appointment.) Clarke occupies the extremist, anti-democratic fringe of far-right officials, even by the standards of the Trump administration.

Clarke, a Milwaukee sheriff, rocketed into national prominence as a conservative provocateur by virtue of his rabid opposition to Black Lives Matter.

Tavernier Chocolate Promotion Mention During Conan Monologue

Brattleboro was sort-of mentioned on national TV Monday night when Conan O'Brian mentioned a Vermont candy maker (Tavernier) giving out chocolate bars with golden tickets.

I won't ruin the joke for you, but it is funny because it rings very true. Charlie got a chocolate factory.
