Alert Local Foodies - Grafton Food Festival - July 12-13

Consider meandering up the West River Valley and into Grafton today for the 2nd Annual Grafton Food Festival.

All kinds of happenings under their party tents starting with a Jr Iron Chef competition at 10:30 followed by cooking demonstrations all day long.  More than 20 vendors will be sampling and selling their wares including several local food producers.  There will be a petting zoo and 'interactive hula-hooping/hoop dance demonstration' to entertain the young ones.  Today's festivities run from 10am - 6pm.

Tomorrow's schedule involves a cooking demonstration by Celebrity Chef Mary Ann Esposito and a farmers' market on the inn grounds.

$10/person per day or $15 for both days.  Kids under 12 free.  There's also a separate ticketed breakfast from 8:30-11a.m. on Sunday.

Ciao Italia celebrity chef demo at 11 a.m.

Celebrity Chef Mary Ann Esposito will be making summertime eggplant salad today at her 11 a.m. cooking demonstration at the Grafton Food Festival (in rec field behind Grafton Inn).

There's also a small farmers' market happening 10-2 there today. Pickles, jams, hot sauce, local bean hummus, local veggies, specialty quince products, eggs, ice cream, cheese, etc.

Here's the scoop on the celebrity chef from the festival website:

"Celebrity chef Mary Ann Esposito is most known as the creator and host of the PBS series Ciao Italia with Mary Ann Esposito™, which this year celebrated its 25th season, making it the longest running cooking series in television history.

Mary Ann is passionate about preserving traditional Italian food and culture. In 2013, she received the Order of the Star of Italy Cavaliere award from the President of the Italian Republic, as well as the Premio Artusi award for her work in promoting Italian food. In addition, she has been recognized by Johnson and Wales University, St. Anselm College, and the Italian Trade Commission."
