Jazz From Row Six Book Talk
Join photographer Jean Germain on Wednesday, September 4, at 7 PM, in the Meeting Room for a talk on her great book of jazz musicians.
Whether it is Bucky and John Pizzarelli jamming together or Eartha Kitt showing that she still has "it" at age 80, Jazz From Row Six is a book filled with exciting photographs of legendary musicians performing America's original art form. Along with the 100 photographs are personal anecdotes documenting a snapshot in the history of the big band sound.
As a former elementary school teacher, author/photographer Jean Germain visually emphasizes the passing of the torch as the masters mentor the next generation of musicians.
From 1981 - 2007, Germain had a unique opportunity to photograph year after year hundreds of world renowned musicians playing at the Sarasota Jazz Festival.
Her talk at the Brooks Memorial Library will focus on stories of the famous musicians, the performances, and how keeping jazz alive is of historic importance.
