Brattleboro Selectboard Agenda and Notes - April 18, 2017

Indigenous Peoples' Day will be officially proclaimed by the Brattleboro Selectboard at their next regular meeting at the Municipal Center on Main Street.

The board will discuss Town Staff diversity, give loans, apply for grants, review new police and fire purchases, and buy a pumper-rescue vehicle, a hydraulic hammer, and a water slide. They will also take up internal business again, such as review of their Rules of Conduct and the Comprehensive Review of Town Operations.

All this and more, and you can participate by attending in person.

Brattleboro Spring 2017 Water Main Flushing Schedule

Utilities Division crews will start Spring Flushing of the Town water mains on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. and continue through Saturday, May 6, 2017.

NOTE!! Some daytime flushing will continue throughout the weeks of May 8th and May 15th.

Please note that water main flushing will occur at night and also during the day.

Customers are asked to check the flushing schedule closely as flushing causes water discoloration, low water pressure, and in some areas, intervals of no water.

Night flushing will occur from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.. Day flushing will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..

Brattleboro Door To Door Vendors

Brattleboro residents are notified that personnel from Integrated Solar Applications Corp., will be going door-to-door through May 31, 2017 soliciting sales of solar products. Sales personnel are required to visibly wear photo IDs. If you have any questions, contact Brattleboro Police Dispatch at 802-257-7946.

I-91 Brattleboro Bridge Replacement Project Update: Week of April 17th

I-91

Southbound I-91 traffic is anticipated to shift to the new bridge by the end of next week! Southbound traffic will continue to be limited to one lane during demolition of the old bridge structure and construction of the remaining southbound roadway.

A single lane closure and intermittent shoulder closures for northbound traffic throughout the project limits will be installed as needed for construction activities throughout the week. Please follow advanced warning signs.

Route 30

The speed limit on Route 30 near the work zone has been reduced to 40 mph. Project-related truck activity on Route 30 will continue. Route 30 may be reduced to a single lane intermittently, with flaggers regulating traffic within the work zone.

Brattleboro Winter Parking Ban Lifted

The Brattleboro Parking Department would like to announce the lifting of the winter parking ban. Starting 04/12/16, at midnight, overnight parking will be allowed on all streets EXCEPT in the downtown area. The following streets are never available for overnight parking:

Main Street
High Street
Elliot Street (from School St to Main St)
Flat Street

BizUp West B at MamaSezz, April 19th

Brattleboro Spring Leaf Pick-up Schedule

TOWN OF BRATTLEBORO SPRING LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE

The following dates have been scheduled for Brattleboro's curbside Spring Leaf Collection. Whereas in the past leaf pickup was determined by scheduled day of rubbish pickup, all locations will be picked up each Friday:

All leaves and clippings must be in brown paper leaf bags and at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on scheduled leaf collection days. Acceptable waste...leaves, grass, clippings, garden waste, twigs, no branches larger than 1" in diameter and 2 feet long. No other household trash is to be included.

Church Street Closure

On Monday, April 10, 2017 and Tuesday, April 11, 2017, Church Street (between Green Street and Elliot Street) will be closed to all traffic from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm for operations related to the Central Fire Station upgrade.

Linden Street Closure

On Tuesday, April 11, 2017 the Brattleboro Department of Public Works, Utility Divsion will be performing an emergency road closure for the southbound lane of Linden Street from Anna Marsh Lane to Chapin Street during the hours of 6:30 am until approximately 6:00 pm to repair a failed valve. Northbound traffic will still be able to travel on Linden Street.

There will be access to Chapin Street from Park Place. Heavy truck traffic travelling south bound on Linden Street/Route 30 will be assisted through the job site due to limited access in the detour. A detour will be clearly signed during the hours of the closure. DPW staff will also deploy electronic message boards on April 10th to notify the public.
