In Like A Lion Still Works

We may be experiencing unusual temperatures at unusual times of the year, but March's famed "In Like A Lion..." is holding true today, right on schedule. High winds are blowing about everything that is untethered in Brattleboro and southern Vermont.

It's causing some power outages, too. Portions of Guillford, Vernon, and Brattleboro are all in the process of service repairs.

I found our recycling and compost bins across the street this morning, and saw other neighbors chasing down personal property. It was a bit like the line of nanny applicants blowing down the street in Mary Poppins.

One Month Left to Sock the Homeless

There is still time to help make a difference! Brattleboro Area Jewish Community's next sock drop will be March 8th. Please consider donating new or very gently used socks to the BAJC Sock the Homeless sock drive! Socks are given out at the Overflow Shelter twice a month.

Drop boxes are located at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (drop off a pair when you vote!) and at the Brattleboro Food Coop. We have given out over 225 pairs of socks this winter and we have another month to go! We can do this...with your help.

How Can I Tell If I Have Russian Hackers In My Social Networking Account?

How Can You Tell If You Have A "Russian" Hacker?

In 2014 my Twitter account became full of peculiar tweets in a foreign language that I did NOT write!
I put some of these tweets into Google Translator http://translate.google.com

They appeared to be "Russian", but the content of the few I read did not seem to be anything but harmless advertisements.

Parenting for Social Justice at Brooks Memorial Library

Parenting for Social Justice Chats will be happening at Brooks Memorial Library for three Wednesdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm: March 8th, April 12th, and May 10th. This initial series will focus on race and racial justice.

Parenting is beautiful and it is challenging. One of the things we struggle with as parents is having hard conversations with our kids. Many of us are seeking support and ideas for how to have the hard conversations with our kids about racism and police brutality, about transgender issues, about hatred for Muslims and many other social justice issues. And we are looking to turn those conversations into action.

Gracie is Missing......No Longer!!!!!

My cat, Gracie, got out yesterday when some work was being done in my apartment. She is small/medium size; long haired, black and grey with white chest and paws. No collar. She does have a micro chip and is spayed. She escaped from 83 Oak Street - in between Williston and Chapin.

She is a very timid, indoor cat so I'm guessing she is probably terrified and hiding somewhere. I've been out several times looking for her and calling her - no luck so far. My other cat, Sava , went missing last summer in a similar situation and was gone 4 days before my neighbor discovered him napping on her porch. I'm hoping this current situation ends as happily.
