"Now every field is clothed with grass, and every tree with leaves; now the woods put forth their blossoms, and the year assumes its gay attire." - Virgil

Board Games

Organized by paulgardner

Group Info

Discussion of board games leaning more toward the strategy end of the spectrum.

This group is Public

Options

This is a group for discussing and playing multi player strategy board games.

To be clear this means not Scrabble, or other words games; not roleplaying games; not  poker or any of the classic 52 card , 4 suit card games; definitely no video or electronic games; and probably not Krokinol or pool or table tennins or physical games of the indoor sort.

The hope and intention is get enough people together to once in a while play the type of board game that takes an hour and a half and up for 4 or more players.

Figuring out where to play is always a trick and that could be a discussion in itself.

This will also be a place to share eviews of games, old and new. A place to make favorites lists and compare them.

My collection is not large, but hopefully it'll be different from others out there and we can expand each other's game vocabulary.

7 Show Up At Coop For May Games Night

This report is a bit delayed due to vacations and stuff.

It was nice to have a bigger group for once. My dream is that enough folks will join us that we can have 2 or 3 games going at once and enjoy a bit more variety in the things we play.

Specifically, while I enjoy the short games, I'd like to have one longer game that might go the full 3 hours playing at one table while some quicker games are being played at others.

At this gathering we started with Chronology and Carcasonne (see the April report for links) and then divided up. One table played Pirate versus Pirate - which I have yet to play, but looks like fun:

My table played Acuity.

April Get Together of the Brattleboro Board Game Group

This past Wednesday (from 6 to 9 at the Food Coop deli) saw the monthly gathering of the Brattleboro Board Game group sponsored by VT Mensa (I'm not a Mensa member nor do you need to be).

It was a small group this time - just 4 of us.

We played Carcassonne,

and Chronology,

http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/834/chronology

and Quiddler.

I was too late for the Quiddler game.

I came in last in Chronology (I foolishly thought carbon dating had been discovered before 1933 (it was '47), and that Yellowstone had become our first National Park after 1886 (it was 1876).
