Memorial Planting Service

Memorial Planting Service to be held on Sunday June 5th

The 18th annual Memorial Planting Service sponsored by Brattleboro Area Hospice will be Sunday June 5th at 4:00 pm at the Brattleboro Area Hospice Memorial Garden, Living Memorial Park, Guilford Street in Brattleboro.

Please join us as we gather to plant flowers, write and draw memorial messages on stones, and listen to beautiful music, all to honor and remember loved ones who have died. Flowers for planting and stones and materials for decorating them are provided. Names of those who have died in the past year will be read. Everyone is invited, so encourage family members and friends to come with you. This service can be an especially meaningful experience for children.

Kids' Day at the Brattleboro Farmers' Market

Saturday, May 21 is Kids' Day at the Brattleboro Area Farmers' Market! Youth are invited to vend their homemade wares--just bring a table and chair! Please, no craft kits or food mixes. International Spring Festival

Families are invited to journey around the grounds of The Orchard School to watch performances and participate in activities representing spring celebrations from cultures around the world. Children can even take a passport to have stamped at each activity.

Highlights at this event include: kite making, a collaborative mandala, face painting, Japanese tea ceremony, delicious local foods, Morris Dancers, Native American drumming, Persian music, a dance around the May Pole, and the grand finale, Holi – the festival of color from South Asia. Those wishing to participate in this final event are encouraged to wear clothes which they don’t mind adding a bit of color to, as the colored powders may stain. Each of these events are appropriate for all ages.

Timson Hill Preschool - Spring Festival

WILLIAMSVILLE: Timson Hill Preschool will host their Annual Spring Festival on Saturday May 28th, 10:00am to 1:00pm, rain or shine.

This popular, family-friendly event includes fun activities for everyone, including a petting zoo, pony rides, a bounce house, a fire engine, a variety of arts and crafts and indoor activities, an outdoor playground, as well as hamburgers, hotdogs, and baked goods. Last but not least, the Vermont Natural History Museum will give a special presentation of live raptors!

Admission is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per family, and all proceeds go to celebrating and fostering continued success of this preschool program.

Maypole with Andy Davis at the Brattleboro Farmers' Market

Remembrance Flag Making

Make a Remembrance Flag to honor a loved one who has died. All materials are provided; no artistic talent needed. This is a great activity for children who have experienced a death loss (but a responsible adult must accompany). Flags can be taken home or hung at the Brattleboro Area Hospice Memorial Garden. No charge, but please call (802) 257-0775 to reserve a space.

Village Dance - Community Contra Dance

An evening of community contra and square dances will take place at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston Center on Saturday, April 16, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Louisa Engle will be calling the dance. There will be a traditional folk tale midway through the evening. The program will include traditional New England contra dances, square dances, circle mixers, and couple dances. 

The Village Dance Series provides an opportunity for families and friends to come together to enjoy one of New England’s traditional pastimes. Experience is not necessary, as all the dances are taught. Although the dances are geared for school age children, all ages and abilities are welcome.

Guiding Good Choices Parenting Series for parents/caregivers of children ages 9-16 offered in Brattleboro

Are you a parent or caregiver of an older youth or teen? You are invited to Guiding Good Choices (4th to 8th grade) for parents and caregivers FREE of cost. 

Guiding Good Choices is an interactive 5 session course (2 hour long sessions) for parents and caregivers of 4th through 8th grade children. The course provides tools and strategies to meet the challenges of guiding your child through adolescence including setting set clear guidelines controlling and expressing anger constructively, and preparing kids with “refusal” skills.

Brattleboro TIme Trade's 2nd Annual Spring Forward Extravaganza!

Come one, Come All to the Brattleboro Time Trade's 2nd Annual Spring Extravaganza and celebrate Daylight Savings Time in style! Held in conjunction with Gallery Walk on Friday, March 4 from 5-8 pm at the River Garden.

The Extravaganza will feature a Silent Auction, Live Music (featuring Bad to Be Good, The Incurable Semantics, and more!), Dessert Bar and Cafe, Games, new member registration, and more! All are welcome!

This event is in collaboration with the Arts Council of Windham County, a Brattleboro Time Trade (BTT) member organization, and it will be the opening night of the student art show. It was also chosen to coincide with daylight savings time.
