Music for a Sunday Afternoon

Date & Time:
Apr 23 2017 - 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Concert of music by Stan Charkey

Music professor Stan Charkey, the Luis C. Batlle Chair in Music and the driving force behind the Music for a Sunday Afternoon series, will be retiring this academic year after 40 years of inspired teaching. But in addition to teaching, Stan is a composer and performer of note, and has had premieres of new works performed in Paris, Los Angeles, and Washington, and of course Marlboro. On the eve of his retirement, this retrospective program of his compositions will be performed by friends, family, and colleagues Andrew Eng (violin and viola), Anya Shemetyeva Merfeld (viola), Jake Charkey (cello), Paul Cohen (cello), Greg Jukes (percussion), and fellow Marlboro professor Matan Rubinstein (piano).
