Guilford Festival Orchestra Lawn Concert

Date & Time:
Sep 3 2017 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Friends of Music at Guilford's 52nd Labor Day Weekend Festival continues at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, when Ken Olsson conducts the Guilford Festival Orchestra on the lawn outside the Organ Barn. The program features a Serenade for String Orchestra by Elgar; a Sinfonietta for Woodwind Octet by Nováček; Mozart's Symphony #40 in G minor and an aria from his "Marriage of Figaro" featuring soprano Julie Olsson, among other works for orchestra and mezzo-soprano. The event's traditional finale is a sing-in of Randall Thompson's Alleluia, popular with orchestra and audience members; bring the score if you have it, or borrow a FOMAG copy. Admission is free, with donations welcome. Grounds open at 12 noon for picnicking and lunch sales. For further information, contact FOMAG at 802-254-3600 or office@fomag.org, or see full Festival story on iBrattleboro.
